Note1:
On the basis of floor design flow chart, CECS 38:2004 《Technical specification for fiber reinforced concrete structures 》( Enacted by The Standardization Institute of Chinese Construction), and conditions of the foundation, loading, uniform distribution, focus and vehicle loading, the strength of concrete, specification of steel fiber, and external conditions, interval of expansion joints, temperature difference between inside and outside of concrete, to calculate thickness of concrete and mixture ratio of steel fiber.
When mixing with 1.0%~2.0%(V/V) in concrete (but don’t exceed 2.0%!), compare to the common concrete without mixing steel fiber, it can improve 40-80% tensile strength, 60-120% bending strength, 50-100% shearing strength, and 0-25% compressive strength.
The addition of steel fiber, compare to that of without mixing steel fiber, can reduce the designed thickness of road floor at least 50%, the interval of expansion joints can add to 15m-30m, so needn’t set the expansion joints and longitudinal joints.
The cement used as steel fiber concrete is usually 425#~525# ordinary Portland cement to assure higher strength and higher wear resistance.The maximum grain size of coarse aggregates for steel fiber concrete is no larger than 2/3 length of steel fiber, or no larger than 20mm. Fine aggregates is often applied as medium-coarse sand with an avg. grain size of 0.35mm-0.45mm.
Construction process flow of steel fiber:
1. Mixing: In mixing plant or onsite, mixed with other aggregates;2. Pouring:Straightly unload or pumping;3. Vibration and leveling: Laser screed machine or vibrating beam;4. Floating and finishing: Walk behind power trowel and/or Ride-on power trowel;5. Sawn cut joints and grouting joints;6. Curing: spraying water or curing agent;7. Completion the flooring.
Note 2:
Low slump steel fiber concrete is appropriate for the construction of super flat flooring. Recommend the slump range 12~14 for steel fiber concrete.Must test the following before the use of steel fiber concrete:Workability;Air contents; Dispersion of bonding steel fibers; Uniform distribution of steel fibers in concrete.
